Zoom Class - Knitting- T shirt redux

Turn a t shirt into a dishcloth or pot holder! Suitable for beginner knitters.  We’ll learn how to turn old shirts into usable yarn, and make that into a useful kitchen item! Students will need to provide a t shirt (100% cotton if using as a pot holder,) ruler, sharp scissors, or rotary cutter. Knitting needles and a yarn needle will also be required and may be purchased on your own, or you may pick up a kit from the shop for $9.
Age: teen to adult

Zoom class - Visible Mending

Sashiko, Boro, and the art of giving clothes new life 

Learn about the Japanese art of visible mending plus a modern take on turning damaged clothing into wearable works of art. No embroidery experience necessary. Students will supply their own article of clothing to stitch (preferably a woven material not a stretch knit,) and may provide their own supplies, or arrange to purchase a supply kit at the shop for $8.

Necessary supplies:  Scissors, sharp tapestry or chenille needle, yarn or embroidery thread.
Suggested materials:  Scraps of colorful fabric or clothing for patches, felt, yarn, embroidery thread, and buttons, beads or sequins for decoration. Small pieces of fusible interfacing to reinforce weak areas. Fabric marking pencil or chalk.
