Every year Longwood Gardens puts on a magnificent exhibit for A Longwood Christmas. And for the past three years they have reached out to local art centers to ask for their participation to help decorate the community trees in the Longwood Conservatory Ballroom.
Longwood Horticulture Design Project Coordinator, Olivia Fow reached out to Bellefonte Arts in the spring to see if our community of artists would like to decorate one of their eight, 12’ tall Fraser Fur community trees. It was a delightful Yes! to be able to bring our artist community together to create special pieces for display.
We had 34 individuals create over 360 ornaments for this tree, 32 yards of hand dyed and handspun garland and a needle felted Damon bear tree topper.
You can visit the Bellefonte Arts Longwood Community tree while visiting Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA from Friday, November 21, 2025 through Sunday, January 11, 2026.
If you do and want to share photos with us via social media, please tag @BellefonteArts and use #BellefonteArtsLongwoodGardens so we see them.
We asked each of our artists to tell us a bit more about their creative process and ornaments they chose to make for this special tree. You can read about each one by visiting the individual artist blog posts.
And if you are lucky enough to find yourself in Bellefonte (Wilmington, DE) please stop by the Bellefonte Arts Shop to see more amazing artwork, get a chance to talk to the artists, take a class with one of our artist, maybe shop and eat in our little hidden eclectic town of Bellefonte, DE. The inspiration and good energy is readily available.
