As a tie dye artist, I have made many different items, but never Christmas ornaments!
I spent a lot of time contemplating different ideas of how to incorporate my art form into a traditional ornament. I’m really excited with the results!
I dyed a 5XL shirt in a rainbow gemstone color palette, and I made several gift boxes in different ways, looking like Christmas presents wrapped in tie-dye.

Next, I cut tiny color strips of the fabric, and put them in clear balls, with a little sparkle pizzazz.
I also got my daughters in on the fun! They both made several of their own ornaments, and I’m very proud of their artistry. It was certainly a family affair.
We cannot wait to see our ornaments, adorning a tree at Longwood Gardens, one of our favorite places.
You can view these extraordinary ornaments on the Bellefonte Arts community tree at Longwood Gardens, during the annual A Longwood Christmas (Nov 21, 2025 through Jan 11, 2026). And if you want to adorn yourself with some of Holly's Tie Dye clothing, visit her rack at the Bellefonte Arts Shop.
